… In this paper the concept of genre will be distinguished from the notion of register, the latter being frequently used to refer to sections within a text which are characterized by certain linguistic forms. This distinction will allow us to account for the hybrid nature of texts, where certain sections of a text show characteristics ahich are not shared be the text as a whole.
